Billionaire investor Mark Cuban suggested, in an interview with Politico, that U.S. presidential candidate Kamala Harris might be significantly more supportive of technological innovation and cryptocurrencies than President Joe Biden. Cuban noted that Harris, who has experience as a senator and attorney general of California, could become an unexpected ally for the tech sector.
"The feedback I’m getting, though not confirmed by the VP, is that she will be far more open to business, artificial intelligence, crypto, and government as a service," Cuban shared in an email interview with Politico. He added, "Changing the policies changes the message and lets everyone know she is in charge and open, literally, for business."
Reports indicate that Harris' team has been reaching out to key figures in the cryptocurrency industry for input on shaping crypto policy. With just four weeks remaining before the Democratic National Convention, Harris is under pressure to outline her agenda clearly.
Harris' presidential campaign has already demonstrated substantial fundraising power. Following President Biden's decision to withdraw from the race and endorse her as his nominee, Harris' campaign reportedly raised over $100 million in less than 48 hours, according to Team Harris. These donations came from 1.1 million unique supporters, with 62% being first-time donors.
