Sonic Taps Injective to Launch Cross-chain AI Agent Platform
12/19/2024 22:00Sonic and Injective have revealed plans to leverage the AI Agent trend by building a cross-ecosystem solution on Solana.
Key Notes
- Sonic to develop a Solana-based AI Agent platform in partnership with Injective.
- The AI Agent platform will brandish unique features including enhanced developer experiences.
- With AI Agents now the next big thing, Sonic and Injective look to take front lead.
Sonic has partnered strategically with WASM-based L1 network Injective, to create the first cross-chain Artificial Intelligence (AI) Agent platform. As a leading gaming Solana Virtual Machine (SVM), Sonic plans to unite the Solana and Injective ecosystems through an innovative Smart Agent Hub.
Behind the Sonic and Injective AI Agent Deal
Also, the collaboration will leverage Sonic’s HyperGrid technology to establish a dedicated SVM grid. This will provide an innovative framework for intuitive cross-chain connectivity between Solana and Injective.
The Inter-Blockchain Communication Protocol (IBC) serves as the platform through which the AI Agents built on the SVM will seamlessly integrate into the Injective ecosystem.
The duo’s focus will be on some technical innovations involving Smart Agent Hub including Injective SVM Grid, which utilizes Sonic’s HyperGrid infrastructure.
Together, Injective and Sonic will run a Solana-based rollup. The goal is to enable direct communication between the Injective WASM blockchain and Solana via IBC. There is also cross-chain asset interoperability, acting as an optimized bidirectional bridge.
Its aim is to facilitate the seamless transfer of assets such as SOL as well as Injective tokens. As designed, it will support both wrapped (CW20) and native token formats. Another technical innovation is the unified developer experience which they plan to offer developers on Injective. Consequently, these developers can deploy Solana-based applications using a single RPC endpoint.
They also get to track transactions through an SVM Explorer and access comprehensive deployment documentation. Speaking about the collaboration, Chris Zhu, CEO of Sonic, noted that it “…. represents a significant milestone in cross-chain infrastructure. By combining Sonic’s HyperGrid technology with Injective’s powerful WASM-based blockchain, we are creating unprecedented opportunities for developers to build applications that seamlessly operate across ecosystems. AI agent frameworks are just the beginning.”
For more context, the Smart Agent Hub has an infrastructure and a suite of tools that empower developers to create, manage, and monetize AI agents in a decentralized ecosystem. Some of its other features are agent tokenization and co-ownership. All these open new economic opportunities through fractional ownership and revenue sharing.
Sonic SVM Prepares for Major Airdrop
Meanwhile, this comes just after Sonic SVM unveiled plans for a strategic token airdrop. This will target Solayer users engaged with its Actively Validated Service.
This is the first initiative of this nature and it involves the distribution of tokens to both Solayer delegators and participants from Adrastea, a restaking protocol channeling Solana to Sonic’s AVS. Explicitly, it recognizes and prioritizes their early adoption and support for the platform.
“The airdrop confirmation signals our commitment to empowering those who have played a pivotal role in the growth of Sonic’s AVS. By rewarding Solayer delegators and Adrastea participants, we’re not only incentivizing broader participation but also ensuring that the users who have believed in Sonic’s vision from the start benefit directly from our growth,” Zhu said at the time.
Eligible users are those who have delegated either Solana or qualifying Liquid Staking Tokens to Sonic AVS through Solayer. The snapshot capturing eligible delegations will precede the Token Generation Event scheduled for Q1 2025. Based on the dominant position that Sonic holds in the ecosystem, the upcoming airdrop is billed for potentially record-setting distribution volumes.
Generally, the Sonic ecosystem is enjoying growing significance in community engagement in Solana’s restaking landscape.
