Dusk Mainnet Goes Live After 6 Years, Bringing Privacy-First RWA Tokenization
01/08/2025 03:34Dusk blockchain launches mainnet after 6 years, introducing innovative RWA tokenization features with Zero-Knowledge Proofs technology and new staking mechanisms for enhanced security.
Key Notes
- The mainnet launch introduces innovative privacy features through Zero-Knowledge Proofs, while enabling diverse staking mechanisms including liquid staking and reward programs.
- Dusk's Q1 2025 roadmap includes new Zedger Beta platform, Layer 2 Lightspeed and a centralized exchange partnership, marking significant ecosystem expansion.
- Strong holder retention shows investor confidence, with over 84% of addresses maintaining positions for more than a year despite market fluctuations.
Dusk, a layer 1 blockchain launched in 2018, has launched its mainnet after six years of research and development. This deployment represents a significant milestone in the real-world asset (RWA) tokenization sector, introducing innovative features that expand the protocol’s reach across the digital asset space.
According to the official announcement, Dusk, formerly known as Dusk Network until 2023, aims to reduce barriers to financial inclusion and empower individuals and institutions to control their assets. The protocol focuses on the RWA sector using Zero-Knowledge Proofs (ZKPs), prioritizing transaction confidentiality on the blockchain.
Users will now be able to stake their DUSK tokens, contributing to the network’s security while also earning rewards on their holdings. Further, they will also be able to run a node, actively contributing to the network’s ecosystem. The blockchain protocol also called on developers to create new applications on the network.
With the debut of the mainnet, Hyperstaking is now also live, which allows custom logics using smart contracts, enabling use cases like referral programs, privacy-preserving staking, and even liquid staking. Along with this feature, Dusk is also rolling out new initiatives in Q1, 2025, including RWA tokenization platform Zedger Beta, layer 2 Lightspeed, and a centralized exchange in partnership with NPEX.
At the same time, Dusk will also introduce DuskPay, a privacy-first payments platform that will partner with stablecoin issuers, providing the blockchain’s users with an all-in-one payment solution for activities ranging from gaming to transaction settlements.
DUSK Holders Show Strong Faith Despite Market Volatility
The RWA tokenization sector has emerged as one of the fastest-growing segments in 2024, trailing only meme coins and artificial intelligence tokens in performance. The sector focuses on bringing real-world assets like real estate, commodities, and traditional securities onto blockchain networks through tokenization.
DUSK, focused on RWA tokenization, currently has a market cap of $112 million. Despite recent market volatility causing a 9.27% 24-hour decline and a 25.02% monthly decrease, the protocol has maintained steady development progress toward its mainnet launch.
However, in the past year, DUSK rose 43.11% as the digital asset’s holder count soared. At the time of writing, an overwhelming 84.03% of the addresses owning DUSK have held the token for more than a year.
