The US said it hit two facilities in eastern Syria it believes were used by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and other groups, in what it called “self-defense strikes” following repeated attacks on US forces in the region. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin warned that further action could come if “attacks by Iran’s proxies” continue.

Iran’s foreign minister warned that the US won’t escape unaffected if the Hamas-Israel war turns into a broader conflict, firing back after the Biden administration said Iran was ultimately to blame for a recent spate of drone attacks on American forces.
